I got a mid-tier (in my opinion) desktop and I wished to stream a little casually. However, i always failed to find a perfect or decent setting for me to stream. First of all, let me show my computer spec for you guys to have an overview.

Motherboard - MSI H97 GAMING 3
CPU - Intel Core I5-4590
GPU - MSI GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr OC GDDR5
RAM - G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB (4GBx2)
OS - Windows 10
SSD - Samsung 250GB 850 evo ssd
HDD - WD 1TB Blue

Here are my OBS settings.

I felt like my rig should be enough to stream decently. I've been trying to play around with my OBS settings. I usually play games such as CSGO. I also have a pretty nice upload and download speed from my ISP in Singapore.

When i'm not streaming, i'm able to maintain a stable fps of 200-300 with a resolution of 1920x1080 with high settings. However, when i start streaming, my fps will drop to 100+ which is very spiky and it's almost hard to aim.
It's similar for other games such as rocket league or dota 2.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Enable vsync or use fps_max to set a more reasonable limit in CS:GO so it doesn't chew up all of your CPU/GPU resources before OBS is running.

I don't use vsync in CSGO because it lags my lag. As for fps_max, i usually set as fps_max 0

This is why I said to use vsync or fps_max. Setting the latter to 0 is as bad as, or worse than, leaving it at the default of 300. The point is to limit the number of frames per second the game is rendering so that it doesn't consume an inordinate amount of CPU/GPU power; you have to leave some resources for OBS to use or your performance will tank. Try matching it to your monitor's refresh rate.
