Question / Help Can't install OBS!

Hello everybody! After downloading OBS, I run the setup wizard and it asks me to install the windows vista platform update. I select yes, and it sends me to the microsoft download center where it wants me to download "Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB971512)", but first it asks me to validate my version of windows.

Here is where I am having problems! The microsoft validation page asks me to run a file called genuinecheck.exe which is supposed to give me a validation code. However, upon running that program I get this error message: "This version of the windows genuine advantage validation tool is no longer supported. Please download the newest version and ensure that your system clock is accurate."

I have been unable to find the "newest version" of this validation tool since microsoft's site seems to just run you around in circles. Can anybody help? With this validation program not working, I can't get the validation code to download the windows vista platform update that I need to run obs. And yes, my system clock is accurate.

EDIT: And in case it's not clear, I am running a genuine version of windows according to MGADiag.exe

Are you using the download version? Apparently you need to use the ActiveX version, but it only works in IE.

this is a bit of a run around solution I think but here goes:
Go to this page in IE: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... -windows-7
Scroll down to "Installing and using Windows XP Mode"
Expand "To download and install Windows XP mode"
Click "Windows XP mode page" and you should be able to validate

Yeah, Microsoft has made some changes to their validation thingy apparently, and you can no longer use the downloaded tool. Have to go through IE now.
