Question / Help "Cannot initialize desktop audio"

When i try to start a stream, it gives me this error and then closes down. Any help?

Install/reinstall the latest U7 drivers from https://www.asus.com/us/Sound-Cards/Xonar_U7/HelpDesk_Download/ and try connecting the device to a different USB port on the back of your PC.

Okay. I did both, and now it doesn't close down, but OBS cannot pick up any audio from my headphones or desktop.

I set the default device through my headphones, but when i do that, it gives me the same error

It opens up normally with Realtek Digital Output as the default, but when it change it to my Xonar U7 headphones i get the error again

Does the U7 have any special options in its software to "enhance" the audio? If so, try turning anything like that off. Previous Xonar hardware has had a "GX mode" option that breaks sound in OBS, so that might be something to look for. You can also try setting it to stereo/2.1 mode, and checking that the format is something reasonable like 16 or 24 bit and 44.1 or 48 Hz.
