Hey all! I'm a old lady trying to figure out this software as best I can so please be gentle :)

Here is my issue. I run a weekly web show using OBS and Vaughn Broadcasting. Every week, I choose 2 Youtube videos prior to the show and set them up as Window Captures. When I go live, the videos are set up and I play the videos.(when it works)

I set all youtube window captures up in "Preview" and it's good to go, but then when I go live, I get a black screen. No video even though I've pushed play on Youtube. Sometimes I can close out and hit preview and the video comes back up, but most times I have to quickly jive through recapturing the window while live. What a mess....

What am I doing wrong please? Is there a plug in I need, or should I be capturing Youtube video differently? Thank you so very much for any help you can give me.

Hmm, are you watching the youtube videos in fullscreen or in the "browser" view?
The first idea that came to my mind, would be downloading the videos prior to your show, that way you can also make sure youtube loads correctly and have no buffering problems or anything while being live :)

The fullscreen capture might have a problem with the flash "window". For example in Chrome this fullscreen view gets no extra window at all and you have to capture the browser to get the fullscreen view. Maybe explain us a bit more in detail, which browser you use and how you work with the videos before you add them as a window capture!

Downloading the video would definitely be a possibility, but your attempt should actually work just as fine. I was able to reproduce your specific issue and it seems like this might be an problem with Firefox, somehow related to the actual window not being recognized as the window you wanted to capture when navigating between pages. Easiest thing to do would probably be to use Chrome, as it seems to work without any problems there (at least I wasn't able to reproduce it there).

Let us know if that's an option for you. If not, maybe we can find a work around to get it working in Firefox too.

Hey all! Back with an update :D Chrome worked well last night, but after the show I had a friend help me install the video plug in that Colter recommended and WOW, it was JUST what I have needed and longed for!!!! Thank you all so very much for your help! I'm so very happy to have things working like I want to. ( I might add that I have been doing the window capture method I described for almost a year, the hard way....) This has made my world better! Thanks all ♥
