Question / Help Can i have help setting up OBS recording?

Been having alot of problems setting up my OBS to recording videos for youtube gaming. I have tried forums on this for advice but nothing has helped so far. what i need is someone who is experienced with obs and who could maybe do a screen sare with me to show me how to get it working and no i do not need to play it in another media player i jsut don't know how to set it up properly with obs. When i first started i got everything working great except the video quality was very bad. Now i ahve come back and tried again only instead of using webcam mic and video to record myself, i am using webcam to record myself and a headset for mic. Other than that i have just improved the resolution for the game visual. For somereason it has stopped recording game visual and i can't get it to work again. In vlc player i get mic audio but still no game footage or audio from game so i just need help getting obs settings right becuase its not that my current windows 10 media player can't pick up the audio, its that the audio isn't beign recorded in the first place for the game at least. I don't know why mp4 in the later versions of windows media player won't play mic audio but vlc will but i have gotten it to work before on it, i just don't know what i might have done to make it only play in vlc.

i have they are above. but would like some kind of walk through like what to set desktop device to and to get it to be picked up. i mean like advice other than playing video in another media program

In the output tab, change the output type to simple, use the indistinguishable quality preset and the software low cpu use encoder.
 
Thanks so much now i made progress :) I recorded new video to test. Ok now it is recording both webcam and game visuals but no sound when played in windows media player. When i play it in vlc player everything works perfectly i can hear myself, see myslef in webcam, hear all audio in gameplay and see whats happening in game. When i upload the video to youtube in mp4 will people be able to hear it? I don't understand why can only hear in vlc but not any other media player? Do i need to fix it so it can play in windows media player and any other media players before uploading, or will it work on youtube?
 
i did a video in mp4 to try it before i got your last message, played it in vlc and then uploaded and it work :). but why not mp4? if i save it in another format will it work with other media players?
 
Saving directly to mp4 is not recommended due to the fact that if the file doesn't get finalized properly, it is COMPLETELY useless.

Save to FLV, remux afterwards IF NECESSARY. It's not necessary if you're uploading straight to youtube.
