Trying to figure out why my stream might be blurry. I have messsed with just about everything I can think of / read on forums.

Any chance you could link a stream video for us to see?

Also, since your preset is set to "veryfast" and you are streaming at 60 FPS, that will be very blurry.

What game are you trying to stream? I might recommend going to a slower preset like "faster" or "fast" and lowering the FPS to 30.

What game are you streaming? Can you post a link to an example video?

Your log looks mostly, fine, but some games such as 3rd person MMOs (WoW, etc.) and some FPSes (like DayZ) just don't encode well due to the high-motion nature of the content and the color/shape of the textures. You could try lowering your x264 preset to faster or fast if your CPU can handle it. Or you can try streaming at 30fps instead of 60fps to allocate more bit rate to each frame.

And LtRoyalShrimp, just because he is streaming at 60fps with veryfast doesn't automatically mean it's going to be blurry. There are many cases where veryfast is perfectly acceptable for 60fps. It just depends on the content being streamed.

Wow first off thanks for the fast reply both of you.

I believe this is the video (I have several logs and I picked one at random haha) that corresponds with the log I posted based on time stamps.

I would skip ahead to maybe 1:30:00 (demonstrates the blurryness in BF4) because it is a 3 hour video. Maybe jump around.

Also somewhere around the very end I start to stream WoW (about 3:10:00) and you can REALLY see the blurry factor.

I am just very baffled. I have tried just about everything.

Changing bit rate from anywhere from 3500/3500 to 2400/3500 2400/3000

I have tried changing the video

Examples:

1920 x 1080 @ 60 and 30 fps

1920 x 1080 downscaled to 1280 x 720 @ 60 fps

I have tried changing what server I broadcast to.

I always have CBR / CBR padding / CFR enabled

The only thing I really have not messed with is the x264 preset. I have a beast cpu i7 4770k 3.5 (OC to 4.6), but I have read that increasing from veryfast to faster usually only gives gains in the 5% quality range if that. So i have judged it to not be worthwhile. Then again maybe the sources are full of it.

The streams are a bit blurry yes.

I would recommend downscaling from 1080p to 720p using lancazsos(36 times), keeping your bit rate at 3500(This might be hard for your viewers to watch, consider lowering) and also choosing a slower preset. your CPU should be able to handle faster. I have a 4770k as well, only OC'ed to 4.0Ghz. Also, in the advanced X264 options, you might want to try "opencl=true". This will take some load off the CPU and put it on the GPU.

I know it probably varies but does going from even veryfast to faster have much of a performance vs cpu taxing worthiness persay?

Also I have been streaming for months at 3500 / 3500....and as of 2 days ago....I seem to start dropping frames now at 3500.

Cause as soon as I drop it to 3000/3500 i dont drop frames....this is really annoying and I cant tell if it is me or twitch kicking me in nuts for wanting to stream at 3500.

Changing x264 preset to faster/fast will definitely impact CPU usage a lot. Check out this site to see what kind of difference each of the presets makes.
