I'm using Logitech HD Webcam C270 and when i try to add it into sources, an error pops out which say "A global source using this device already exists.". So, I was wondering if you could help me solve it or give me a short list of which and what kind of program could be that "global source". I will also attach a screenshot of it.

Click on the Global Sources button. Is the camera already added there? If so then you should add that global source to your scene (right-click > Global Sources > name you gave the camera source) instead.

I am having this same problem, but when I go to the Global Sources list, there is nothing there.

Initially, I had the video capture device set as a global source, but it was having some input problems, so I uninstalled and re-installed the device's drivers. When that happened, OBS removed the Global Source option but didn't 'forget' that it was there. So now there is no source but also no way to add the source.

I've tried removing and reinstalling OBS, but it remembers its old settings even after an uninstall. Is there any way I can wipe OBS's memory?

If you wish to reset your settings, type in %appdata% in to start/run, then move or remove the "obs" folder in there.

so if someone has this issue they are just shit out of luck? can't use obs? This thread was covering a very real issue that I myself am suffering with and it simply died before a fix was discussed. I don't see solutions anywhere else on the web so someone please post a fix or point me in the direction of where to find one because I'm tired to the point where I might just go find some software that works.

The fix is posted already. You can't have a device as both a global source and a regular source, pick one or the other.

my webcam doesn't show up as a global source, the only global source listed is twitch, it shows up as an option for a source when I right click->add->video capture device. I select it as my source and press OK to confirm but it gives me the error "A global source using this device already exists." The cam is not in use by anything else but is enabled, and the drivers are up to date. I use the cam frequently with other programs no problem.

You probably called your camera "twitch" for whatever reason. Delete the global source and try again.
