Question / Help Broken picture at start when connecting to IP camera

Hi,

I am recording the output of my IP camera and it works very well. The only thing that bugs me, is that when i press "start recording" and it connects to the camera, then the picture is broken for the first 2-3 seconds. After that everything is fine.

I guess the problem is that OBS starts grabbing the stream at this point and needs some time to get a constant stream. Am I correct in assuming this?

Is there any chance how I can get rid of this? It would be ok if the real recording would start 2-3 seconds after I press the button or maybe I can get a constant stream and preview and the just start and stop recording at the desired point.

Thank you very much in advance!

add the cam as a global source.

It is added but it only starts grabbing the input when i push "start recording"

Is it possible to keep the preview active and then just switch to recording without deactvating it?

does your IP camera record when its not being viewed? is there any sleep setting on the cameras web gui?

The camera should still be active, but i can confirm that in a few hours and let the web gui running at the same time

I think the problem is the bitrate thats needs to be build up first. Its set on 8000... I will try with lower settings and see if that fixes it

since you have the cam in global sources, just start the recording on a "standby" screen prior to switching to the scene with the IP camera
