Question / Help Brief black screen when transitioning to local Media Source

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to play a local video file in a Media Source have it show the first frame of the video immediately rather than black?

Right now if I transition from a live source to a Media Source I get a flash of black before the video starts playing. I'm guessing that this black flash is the time it takes to load the local video file into memory and start playback but I'm hoping that its possible to somehow pre-load media so the transition can be seamless.

I've tried having the Media Source in the same scene as the Live Source, and also having the two in separate scenes, but the behavior is the same.

The only workaround I've come across so far is to transition to a scene that contains both the Media Source and the Live Source (with the Media Source as the top layer), but doing this means that I need to manually fade down the audio from the Live Source once the transition is complete, which I'd like to avoid.

The videos I'm using are H.264 MP4 format and I'm running OBS Studio v0.16.2 on Linux Mint 18.1.

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

Trying to accomplish the same thing here. I have 3 scenes, one of which is a transition scene that includes a local .mov or .mp4 file. That transition scene fades in and plays the video clip, and after that clip plays, I hot key to the other scene.

Issue - Very often the transition feed will either pause for a few seconds, or pause mid playing the movie clip. Doesn't happen every time, but usually around the 3rd time jumping back and forth between that transition screen.

Should we enter a formal bug for this?

Same issue. I've used MOV, AVI, and VP9 and the last frame of the transition goes black. I call it the "Black Blink" As of yet I have no solution.
