Bug Report Blue Screen Of Death when starting either Stream or Preview

Hi!

It's probably (certainly not a bug) but I don't know where to post this. I would like your wisdom on how to search for more info. Google helped me that much...

BlueScreenView showed me that atikmpag.sys, dxgkrnl.sys, dxgmms1.sys are the evil ones that makes everything crash.

The problem popped out of nowhere and I cannot find what changed in my comp/os/software. CPU's Gpu's seems to work just fine with everything else, they don't seems to overheat and I found no way to get some kind of report with more information to help myself.

At this point I need some pro streamers to help me.

Thanks!

Re: Blue Screen Of Death when starting either Stream or Prev

Try checking your memory and running diagnostics like Intel Burn Test / OCCT. Make sure all drivers are up to date. Blue screens are usually caused by faulty drivers or faulty / overheating hardware. Turn off any overclocks or similar too.

Hi, I used the prog and got more research done. Here are my 2 results with two different attempts. I'm now pretty sure I have one of my two Radeon HD 4800 or both that are faulty or one of my ram stick is faulty.

First test with normal memory:
Code:

It crashed the same way OBS makes my computer crash with a BSOD. Same three .sys files crashed. The error code is 0x00000116 (it' always that code) wich seems to be related to my card drivers behing unable to reload properly.

The thing is that I played with my driver a lot. I heard about some left over files from older drivers that could be a problem so I will one last time try to update my driver but after using some kind of CCleaner type of software to clean my drivers properly and see if it crashes again. If it does do I actually need to get new cards? (I don't mind, ATI lately been a pain for me, their drivers don't even let me edit my cards settings and I get a solid underscan with my HDMI display and there is nothing I can do about it...)

The other option might be my ram, but I don't really know how to test it more precisly.

A this point, just a little confirmation or advice on my way to go would be appreciated. Thanks again for pointing me out to IntelBurnTest it helped me a lot to get new search directions.

Re: Blue Screen Of Death when starting either Stream or Prev

Just to keep people informed. I think my main problem was that my drivers where messed up with older files and newer installs etc.

Here how I "solved" (I still need to make more test to make sure its stable, but I've been able to stream tonight without any BSOD):

- Downloaded DriverSweeper
- Downloaded the latest ATI drivers (13.1 in my case)
- Installed it
- Uninstalled every ATI driver and software I could find normally (with device manager for the drivers and add/supress prog for the AMD CCC and other softwares).
- Rebooted the computer in safe mode
- Ran DriverSweeper (that made me reboot)
- Booted normaly and installed 13.1 drivers.

No BSOD yet to be found and my computer seems to start faster now; whatever my problem is solved or not I obivously did good to my comp ;P

So there you go, if that could help anyone.

Thanks for the information -- I actually really appreciate it because bluescreens are difficult to deal with.

Re: Blue Screen Of Death when starting either Stream or Prev

Ok, in the end I get the same problem. It seems that the drivers were not the problem. I'm really out of ressources now. I think I will try to just format the shit our of my computer. This is getting very annoying. I'll try Xsplit also, see if the problem shows up. If not we'll know that it's isolated with OBS.

On another note, there is only OBS that makes my computer BSOD on me, I have absolutly no idea what is causing it. The error is always the same: 0x00000116, related to atikmpag.sys, dxgkrnl.sys, dxgmms1.sys. The card dosent seems to heat more than it usually do (and the crash is instant or completely absent. If I start the stream or preview the stream and it's working, I wont get any BSOD for all that sessions (until I close de comp or something like that) I get a BSOD when I start the stream or preview (+- 5 secondes after both my screens freezes, then I see video artifacts, then BSOD)

HELP! :'(

I'm experiencing the same issue. Not with the same error code, however. "APC_Index_Mismatch" is what continously pop's up when I'm seeing the blue's. The cause? Switching from one scene to the next too fast either on Preview mode, or while livestreaming.

I had to end my stream a bit early last night because of BSOD. I too am ready to reformat my hard drive and hopefully be done with this annoyance.

That error is caused by a faulty driver, if you have a device on one of your scenes that device is probably responsible.

I've reverted my system's Restore Point back a week, scanned the computer for virus', ran CCleaner, downloaded the latest GPU driver; even swapped out hardware components (keyboards, mics, etc) and it still crashed. Upon some research the main cause is a registry issue. Something didn't agree with my computer, unfortunately. After cleaning the registry, everything seems to be fine again.

What would cause the crash was changing scenes too quickly on OBS from one to another. Now, however, things seem to be working properly.

Thank you for the help.
