I just got this new laptop so that I can better stream, but no matter what help or advice is provided from this forum or the internet, I'm not finding a solution to MY problem, which is the desired capture device (VCD 500) not displaying in OBS. The capture device works fine, and I've gotten OBS/my stream to work with an emulator (tested with ZSNES)

On my older, weaker laptop I had zero issues. And I'm unable to turn to another program as those also have unresolved issues with my factory settings on this laptop (Xsplit not capturing my audio)

I've received no warning that I need to run either program as admin, though I've forced both to do so. No programs are blocking one another from running. I, so far, suspect there is a compatibility issue with my graphics card (AMD Radeon 8560g) and OBS itself, with no found solutions on making them work together (I've read that some laptops have come conflict with GPU that I honestly don't understand). This is a new and very confusing problem that's currently making my brand new laptop, which I got for streaming, a rather expensive paperweight.

I'll try to answer all the questions I can but I'm not the most tech savvy, I just want to stream my games from my consoles.

I think you gave the wrong log file because that log file appears to be cut off, and doesn't make any reference to any capture devices you're using.

I don't know how it didn't pick that up. I suppose it's my fault for copy/paste. I just found the log folder.

Here's the two most recent logs from that folder.

Did you not create a video device capture source in OBS? It's not in any of the log files.

I had, but I kept creating, removing, recreating removing trying to get it to work that I dunno, perhaps those logs are from when I didn't have one.

For sure this one says 'capture device' in here. I'm sorry this is getting... probably frustrating. It went from working on the old laptop to not working so I don't know what I've done wrong or differently.

I'm not home so if this one doesn't have what you need I'll have to hook my laptop up again and hope a new log generates what's needed.

Well that's strange, that time it said "insufficient resources". I've also never seen this capture device before, and I've seen a lot of capture devices. This is definitely unusual, and I'm not entirely sure what to do as a solution. What specific device vendor/model is it?

The USB capture card is a Diamond VC500. The program that it comes with to capture is called simply EZ Grabber

I guess a minor update. If I don't have the capture program (EZGrabber) open I can select from Video Capture Devices the "Conexant Polaris Video Capture" from a dropdown list. However while I get video here I get no audio. This is the same issue I have using Xsplit; and after some testing I can stream from Steam games as well as emulators.

I didn't have any problems with my capture card and program on my old laptop; is this something to do with the video card? (I believe my last laptop had NVidia and this one has an AMD Radeon).

Ah, so the problem was that you had it open in another program. I'll have to keep that in mind.

As for the audio -- are you able to select its audio in the audio dropdown? Can I see a new log file of where it was active?

Same set up as before, recreated minutes ago. Managed to set the capture card as the video capture device, which gave video but no audio. The speakers are set as the same that my computer uses, which, at the time I made sure something else was playing to verify my computer wasn't being muted.

I'm at a loss as to what the issue is, because I can either get video, or audio, but never both.

Yea, unfortunately I'm not entirely sure, I'll have to write down that device and buy it myself if I can find one to see if I can replicate the issue.

They're available fairly cheaply on Amazon, and it came recommended to me from another streamer on Twitch.tv who uses the same combination of the Diamond VC 500 and OBS. Hopefully something can be resolved...

Hi, I'm aware this is a fairly old post, but I'm running into basically this exact problem, same everything, and was wondering if you found a solution to it. I to had to close the program to get the video to pop up, but also no sound.
