Question / Help Black Screen with Game Capture

Ever since a few weeks I've been getting a black screen on my Game Capture. Other than that, when I put it to Window Capture, it will show a screenshot of the first time I put it on that, since startup of my pc. When I restart OBS and put it on window again, it will show this same screenshot, untill I restart my pc.

Monitor capture does work, but since I have 2 screen I alt-tab a lot, and my taskbar will show over the game at that point.

Im running on a desktop with the following specs:
CPU: i7 4820K @ 4.2GHZ
RAM: 32GB DDR3
GPU: GTX 780ti

Hoping anyone can give me some pointers as to what could be going wrong, any assistance is appreciated.

If you need any logs/more specs lemme know here. The logs do not show any errors. (Except that Windows 8 is not supported, but it was working before on W8)

This is one of the logs, but like I said. It's not showing any errors as far as I can see.
Monitor capture will not capture full screen games. remove the monitor capture and add a game capture and point it towards the game.

Second, please make sure you downscale to 700p when streaming 1050@60 is way to high for your settings as well as any potential viewers.

That being said, it should get better once you remove the monitor capture and use a proper capture method.

Second, don't watch your own stream on twitch. your video thread frame is super high, but I would just use a popout chat (not the twitch dashboard either).

You seem to misunderstand. The game is in Fullscreen Windowed, and monitor capture is the only one that is working. Game capture is black and Window capture just shows the first frame that wont change. This is the problem I'm looking for help with.

I mainly stream for friends of mine, and 1050p seems fine for them. Even with this encoding Im running at 80fps with no drops in the streaming. My usual settings are 1050@30.

Note: I have 100mbit upload.

What chat would you recommend then? I do usually use the twitch dashboard indeed.

If it is a windows store game, yes, they do not capture with game or window capture. which game or games have you tried?

Ark: Survival Evolved mainly, but also League of Legends, Starcraft, Banished, Diablo 3, CounterStrike: Source.

Non-games just for testing: Unity & Unreal Dev Kit.
All of those used to work before, all of them give black screen now.

I have reinstalled OBS and installed OB studio, both with the same results.

It seems like it does not get any input at all, as when I activate a Game capture and Monitor capture at the same time, the order wont change anything, only the Monitor capture will show.

you might try toggling the GPU in the video window from and back to the nvidia card then rebuild your game capture. make sure that the monitor capture is not preset when you do this.

I cannot. I don't have a second gpu.

Motherboard is a X79-deluxe, which does not come with an internal GPU.
My mistake but its more about the CPU than the motherboard,

Anyway, please test with CS:GO since I know CS:GO works with standard options and game capture. make a new scene and just add the game capture, then start CS:GO (full screen OR windowed no border is fine) then alt-tab into OBS game capture, refresh and point to CS:GO. at that point restart OBS then start the stream (using a hotkey would be best) then tab back to game

Ok so for some reason that works now. In CS:GO I can stream just fine, as well as some other games.

Although, with Ark:Survival Evolved, its not even showing in my GameCapture options anymore.
On Fullscreen I can find it no-where, in Fullscreen Windowed I can see it as a window, but with the behaviour I described before.

Any clue why Ark would've dissapeared?

No clue, Its not uncommon for newer games to change their capture method for anticheat or even fixing an issue. if/when you see it in the list as stated above, try game capture with no special settings first (game can be full or windowed), then game capture with anticheat. if that doesn't work after you tab back to game, remove the game capture and use a window capture (game must be in a windowed or windowed no border mode aka non-full screen), if that doesn't work, try compatibility mode in the window capture,

Sorry for such a late response but try right clicking the game in your sources window, click properties, and check Anti-Cheat compatibility hooking. It just worked for me.
