Question / Help Black screen when using game capture

So I updated obs to v17.0.0 and since then when i use game capture it is just a black screen or it shows the game for a few seconds and then freezes. Please help!

Change back to Direct3d 11 in advanced settings

well that worked until i change the visibility of the game capture and when i turned visibility back on the game capture stayed black. anything else i could change?

Run OBS as admin.

I am having the same issue, when i updated, I now get game window black screen,I have used studio for some time and this is the 1st version that has given me this issue and I do run as admin.
Wondering if there is a link to previous version as i have failed to save mine?

so i change video rendering to direct3d 11 and opened obs as an admin and game capture worked for a few minutes this time but it still ended up freezing and going to black.

Try to re-create your game capture sources. Or even make new Scene Collection.

no luck re-creating game capture source and no luck with creating new scene collection, thanks for the suggestion.

im not positive but i believe i was using an add-on application for the game i was trying to stream and i think that was causing the black screen or freezing of the game capture. i've been previewing my stream for 15+ mins and it has yet to freeze where usually by now it has froze.

Then use 'Display Capture'.

i would use display capture but you cant screen region display capture

LOL, thank you, if only i had bothered to scroll down more

Also, the 16.6 relese works great, so there is an issue with the 17.0, at least for older hardware.
running win7 and a gtx545, the issue is game screen only for me.
