Question / Help Black screen problem

OBS not showing anything preview screen and record nathing. but it showing my desktop .
but when i try to use this to record gameplay or stream game this software show only a black screen. i can lisen game audio but video is only black screen.
i am using
Win 8 64bit OS
8GB DDR3 RAM
Saphhire R9 270x Graphics card.

any help?
 
Not 100% sure what could be the cause. However, one thing to try (not sure if you have done this or not) but within the "Sources" box make sure to add a "game capture" source (least when recording games).

You will need to have the game running first so you can choose it from the drop-list on the window that pops up.
 
Hi guys,

i'm having a black screen problem too. I had not any problems with streaming DayZ before. Yesterday was the new DayZ 0.53 Update and therefore every ingame Server was down. So i decided to play the experimental mode of DayZ, because these Server were running at this moment. Therefore you have to Change the DayZ Beta Mode in the library of Steam. After that i had a black screen in the game capture of OBS.

I switched back to the non-beta-mode in the library of Steam and reinstalled OBS and DayZ and I have still the Problem, that I have a black screen in the "game capture".

PS: Every other Game is running well!

I can confirm the same problem with DayZ 0.53 stable upgrade from yesterday. I just get a black screen. Tried both game capture and Monitor Capture. It works in Windowed mode if I capture the Window, but as soon as I go full screen OBS blacks out.

I've tried with both 32bit and 64bit OBS, and both do the same for me.

I also have a GTX970, driver version 347.25 on Win8.1.

Dear GamingGeneral,

if you would read it correctly, we dont have a black screen ingame, we are having a blackscreen in OBS gamecapture!! My Game works well and OBS can't get in the gamecapture mode the picture of DayZ.
 
I don't know what has happened, but today it worked for me. As far as I can neither game, driver or OBS has been updated.

What I did do however is I first added the Game Capture with "Anti-cheat compatibility hooking" and saw that it worked. I then removed the check mark for anti-cheat hooking and it still worked.
