Question / Help Black Screen - I need to add a Scene Each time

Hi,

I add a scene. I start the game. It captures fine.

I close everything.

I restart the game and OBS but this time I need to add the scene again or I get a black screen.

Any help?

If you're using a game capture source to capture your game, the best method is to assign a hotkey and press it once you're in the game. That will cause game capture to hook whatever it is you're running so you don't have to keep recreating sources.

Of course I use a hotkey, I am not retarded like the mods here. I already use a hotkey and the capture is still black. I still need to recreate it you moron.

Also you keep deleting my threads and banning me, when all I have done is post legitimate criticism of the software. You have also banned my IP.

This shows the mindset of the "mods" which frequent these forums. Childish, closed mindset to rival that of a prurient teenager.

I highly recommend that you refrain from insulting people on the forums, moderators and regular users alike. We have no problem receiving feedback but if you're only able to communicate through insults and foul language then you can probably expect to be banned again. Keep it civil, please.

Regarding your issue, since you provided virtually no information about what you were doing I had no way to know that you already used a game capture hotkey. I apologize for not being psychic. Perhaps you could post a log file from an OBS session where this problem happened, so we don't have to play the guessing game.

I created a hotkey at "Game Capture" then actually on "Sources" I created a hotkey there. It seems to work now.

The problem is when I ALT+TAB the game i need to press the hotkey each time

You shouldn't need to press the hotkey each time anymore with the latest version. I specifically coded it so that it would remember the game and reacquire when you alt-tab back in the game.

Ok, I still have to re-add the capture. It doesn't work, this is what I do:

1) Scenes: Game Capture - I add my game capture in "Sources"

2) I set a hotkey by right-click on game source, and selecting "Use Hotkey"

3) I start the game. Sometimes I brb to Alt+Tab and check internet and desktop.

4) I close everything.

When I restart OBS and the game the hotkey still doesn't work. It still results in a black screen. What should I do?

I have a very powerful computer by the way and 150 download internet.

It's normal to have to press the hotkey again if you close everything and restart OBS. You should have to press it once at the beginning of your recording/stream and then be set. Closing and re-opening OBS will mean you have to press the hotkey again.
