Question / Help Black Screen for Recording/Streaming

(Not using a Laptop btw)(Pretty sure my PC specs are on the log too aren't they?)

Everything I try to record seems to come up black, I have audio but I don't see anything. I've checked the resolution.
I've tried to do record footage of Video Games. I tried looking for forum posts to solve it but I couldn't find one that fixed it.
I was trying to record OpenXCOM (I had it windowed like people suggested) and I've tried recording other video games.
Monitor Capture also didn't seem to work.


Can I get some help, please?

Not a 100% sure what's wrong but, what form of capture option are you trying when you setup a scene/source to record?

For most full-screen games; and those that allow borderless windowed mode as well; you want to choose Game Capture.

Also, in your settings - this won't chnage the screen recording in black but will help with at least quality - if you are recording locally only (and not streaming), set your max bit rate to at least 5000 or higher. Set a custom buffer size to the same amount as Max bitrate. Also, un check "Use CBR" and set the "Quality Balance" to 5 or higher.

However, if you are streaming, Don't set the bitrate settings any higher than 3500; and make sure to leave "Use CBR" checked.

You may need to test/edit the setting to get a good quality/what runs good for your system.

I got mine to work. I don't know if it only works for this one game (SW:BFII) but it works. However I have black bars on the sides now. How do I get rid of those?

Alright. A big problem that I want to fix is that I am trying to record DOSbox. I have followed the instructions to make it play windowed but it still isnt recording. Can someone help me? Or am I just going to have to make another thread?
