Question / Help Black screen capturing games

I've looked around a ton of threads related to this and have tried everything suggested with no success. It seems I'm able to capture Dolphin but not games like Overwatch or Destiny.

Game capture was also working a few days ago, before the windows update.

Bungie has opted to not allow OBS to hook Destiny 2 using Game Capture. See: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/46101

You need to run it in fullscreen windowed mode. It works fine, I have streamed destiny 2 several times this way.

I tried that as well and it didn't work. I ran it in windowed mode from launch until roughly 2 or 3 days ago and it worked fine.

Window capture seems to work with everything except games

Bane I feel your pain. I updated to the Fall Creator windows update 1709 and now OBS only captures black when capturing windows. It seems to be a windows priority problem, maybe caused by their changes to "game mode". The 1709 update seems to have also broke some ElGato HD's ability to capture as well but looks like elgato fixed it. Gotta love the great windows updates! I'll post back here if I find a solution. We may need to wait for an OBS update.

are you running fall creators update 1709?

Yes. You need to disable Fullscreen Optimizations on the Destiny 2 client.

Fixed by right clicking destiny.exe > Properties > Compatibility > Check Disable fullscreen optimizations.

I'm guessing this will work with a few other games that have issues like this.
