Bug Report black bars with obs

ok im posting on behalf of a friend, who is quite frankly LAZY and doesnt wanna post it himself :twisted:
but he started using obs. and when streaming he has black bars left and right of the screen. his monitor can only go up too 1680x1054. so whats causing this? would he really need a new monitor or is there something else?

we tried a lot of resolutions. even setting it to 1280x720 but it still gave blackbars

1680x1050 is a 16:10 resolution, 1280x720 is a 16:9 resolution. If someone is watching on a 16:9 monitor there will be black bars because the aspect ratio is different, this is unavoidable without stretching / distorting the image.

but i stream from a 21.5 screen on 1920 by 1080 in 1280 by 720 resolution with obs without any problems so why cant he

Because 1920x1080 is a 16:9 resolution too. His monitor is a physically different size, so the size of the streamed image is different.
