Hello,

I've recently invested around $800 in new equipment including a 4770K i7, a multichannel modem for higher streaming as well as increasing my internet speeds to the highest available in the USA. (in exception to California and NYC (who max out at 100up/100down). For me, my speeds are 30/5. This translates as a maximum of 6000Mbs upload and about 37500Mbs download.

Every now and then i can run for a short while. But then it piratically crashes, at which point I run speed tests, always with the following results:
(I am in wisconsin, but i have to use the Dallas servers now because the Chicago server was taken down.)

When OBS quits streaming properly, i then test download and upload speeds using other applications and it still runs at 100%, very smoothly. And when it does work, it works perfectly. But it doesn't run for long.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Sorry to spam...

I just switched the server to New York because it was the only thing I could think of and the stream is staying steady although I've only been doing it for a short while.

Is there a chance that the Dallas server is defunct?

Twitch servers for me are never stable. You can have bandwidth issues to the servers due to routing, your ISP, or their end of the servers. Just try and find the most stable server (i.e the one with the least jitter) that you can send enough bandwidth for your stream to. I personally use XSplit's bandwidth tester to test which server works best for me, however I assume you can find some other method if that is too much hassle.

So far this has been very stable since i switched servers. I would have never thought to do that.

That's good! (: Yea, I had some issues finding the reason when it happened to be a few years back. Especially when it was spontaneous with it's instability. The worst thing is when it drops once every 5 minutes! Either way, it's good to know that you've found a solution ^^
