Question / Help Bitrate and Disconnects

Hello!!

I'm streaming League of Legends and i'm quite new with the program and was wondering if I have the correct bitrate and buffersize on the settting. Currently both are on 3000. If I have the correct amount of bitrate and buffersize and still disconnects, I'm wondering why I do that in that case. I'd appreciate any help I can get :D

If you do not have quality settings, bump your bitrate down to something under 2k. A lot of regular viewers don't have computers capable of viewing streams with a high bitrate. Or they don't have strong internet. Even though you have a decent upload speed, try to lay off the high bitrate for a while. It will help in the long run. That is just a tip. With the disconnecting I am not sure. I am sure someone will answer this soon so stay tuned! Excellent internet speed by the way and ping.

^^ I think you XtraSurs about covered it. Every now and again OBS disconnects you - it's kinda part of the parcel! It will reconnect but that sometimes doesn't feel like enough. How often are you disconnecting? Like Xtra says, 3000 bitrate is quite high. If the disconnects persist then you should try a lower setting with a constant bitrate (CBR enabled) - and with nothing else clogging your upload speed you should be alright.

Another thing to consider is if you're streaming via Wifi. I stream via Wifi with no trouble, but it causes some people connection problems so it's definitely a point to test (with a network cable).

Thanks for the great answer! I will certainly lower it. I'm still interested in the disconnects though. I'm wondering...Could a plugin make the disconnects happen?

I got my internet via cable. For the disconnect subject. It has happened on two occasions. Firt when I used a plugin named LoL Switch and sometimes it dissconnected. Second when I started streaming without the plugin and it still dissconnected while i was playing LoL. So I had to start it up again.

So your stream disconnects both with and without the plugin LoL Switch? If OBS exhibits the same behaviour of disconnecting both with and without the plugin, then it is unlikely the plugin is the cause.

You disconnected on two occasions, how long have you streamed before these disconnects happen? :)

I haven't been streaming for long, just started yesterday using OBS. I also can't find the log file on my computer. Thing is that I don't have appdata in my usename folder. And I looked at the OBS main folder and can't find it so I dunno where to find it...If by any chance i haven't missed something.

Sort the folder by clicking 'Date Modified' (i.e., the latest at the top) and post us the latest :)

As far as I can see you always had a graceful loop exit. This normally means you stopped the stream yourself and it stopped without problems.
In a few cases we had users that accidently set a hotkey to Start/Stop streaming. You could check if thats the case and remove the hotkey. If that is not the reason for your problem, I would test two things:
First, just test a local recording, no streaming (activate save to file in the broadcast settings and set a filepath/filename), see if that also randomly stops. For example, just start the recording and do nothing, no key press at all, let that run for a bit, get a coffee and see if it still runs when you come back.
Now if that works just fine, try streaming again, maybe a video file, and just keep the OBS window active and watch it. Then report back if you had disconnects and link us the new log file please!
