Question / Help Better way to record with friends than OBS + Skype?

So, OBS recording and Skype takes up all my CPU usage (my PC isn't bad, I don't understand why it is) and so I'm wondering if there's something better out there, or some settings, that can stop the high PCU usage? I record in 1080p, 30 FPS. I get "high encoding" because of the CPU usage, and so my frames drop :/

OBS freezes anytime I try to Analyze or Upload log. :/ I can view it but can't get it to Analyze or Upload without freezing.

You basically need to follow https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/how-to-make-high-quality-local-recordings.16/ and possibly set the x264 preset to ultrafast in addition to all the settings in the guide.

Well the thing is, without Skype I can record in these settings just fine. The only problem is that Skype takes up so much CPU that the combo if it + OBS takes my CPU to 100% usage and that's where I'm getting my "high encoding" problem.

Not much you can do about that other than get a recent system

That chip isn't a true quad core.

Hm. A shame, had I known this chip wouldn't be good for recording / rendering I wouldn't have got it.
I know nothing about PC's so my cousin insisted we build instead of me just buying a pre-built, so he picked out the parts and everything. :/ Grr lol.

Do you think maybe setting OBS priority higher could help it out a little?
