Question / Help Best Setup

Hi there,

I want to use obs to record my gameplay. The problem is that my game always drop frames when I record. On top of that, if I use lower settings/bit rate, the recording will freeze up once in a while. What is a great setup I can use to record games without dropping frames and without freezing.

I have an old laptop running an I5 4210y @ 1.5ghz and using Intel Graphics. Games running can reach anywhere from 30fps to 120 (minecraft).

My current settings are
Bitrate: 1000
Buffer : 1000
Advanced:
Process Priority: High (anything lower and it freezes)
cpu preset: Ultrafast
x264 encoder settings: crf=15

Thank you

Thank you. I have tried those settings before. But it dropped the game fps by a crap ton. Beyond that, it also freezes every once in a while.

I use to have those settings. They would drop frames the second I open up a game and the recording freezess as well. Here is my configuration. What else should I change?

So does this mean that no matter what I do, I will either have dropped frames and/or freezing? Or can I do something to fix this (not changing the cpu, not that techy and don't want to mess with my laptop)

If you don't want to replace the cpu (which isn't recommended for laptops due to the shape of it) then replacing the whole machine with a higher end one is the only real option to solve the problem
