Question / Help Best quality possible with no lag on my machine?

I'm recording locally and saving the files to my hard drive. Here are my specs

Intel Core i5 4590 Quad Core at 3.3 ghz turbos to 3.7 ghz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 (Non-ti)
Two Hard Drives (1tb, Hard drive I'm recording to has a speed of about 120 mb/s) and an SSD (120gb of storage)

Set your Custom Buffer to 0 (this unlocks the bitrate to use however much is needed, so it doesn't matter what you set there).
Set your x264 preset to Ultrafast (worst compression, largest filesize, lowest CPU usage).

It's going to eat GOBS of hard drive space, but if you're recording locally, you should be able to re-compress the video afterward using a high quality multi-pass re-encode.
