I've decided to step away from the HDPVR2 as I was having to use window capture with it and decided to purchase the AverMedia Live Gamer HD.

I am attempting to stream a console connected via HDMI.

Everything looks fine on the pass through to the TV - all looks and sounds great.

HOwever in OBS if I select Add Video Capture Device an then select the AVerMedia HD Capture C985 Bus 3 option I either get a red screen or a black screen in the preview.

I did actually get a picture at one point but now can't seem to get it back.

Any idea on what I am doing wrong?

I'm just updating the firmware and drivers and I'll get back to you.

Er, good luck, I've heard of people bricking their LGHD with firmware updates. Be VERY careful.

It doesn't always happen. I was able to upgrade the firmware on my LGHD just fine, but there are some others who have not had such luck.

Is it still showing a red screen? What console are you streaming? Are you sure the console is outputting 1080p and not 720p? What happens if you change the Live Gamer HD resolution to 720p in the video capture source options?

Just changed this setting:

Video > Base Resolution > 1280 x 720

I now have Video!

Onwards to the sound issue now.... I'll let you know when I have done some fiddling.

Really appreciate all the epic support we get here by the way chaps.

Now onto sound.

I have sound on my TV via the AverMedia HDMI pass through so that is good.

I have the following sound option in Windows 7:

LGTV
Realtek Digital Ouput (Optical)
Speaker (actually my Headset)

In OBS I have:

Default
Realtek Digital Ouput (Optical)
Digital Audio (HDMI) (2-High Definition Audio Device)
Speaker
LGTV

Can't seem to get any sound at all no matter what I do....

Hi dodge.

Yes, I think the problem is I genuinely have not got a grasp on audio settings when it comes to Windows, Streaming and Capture Cards. I just can never seem to get my head around what is going where and where it is coming from.

If I boot up RECentral I have video and audio both set to HDMI.

Doing this and by setting my playback device in Windows as Speaker (headset) everything sounds great.

However when I then shut down OBS I cannot get any sound.

Consider me thick as pig sh*t for purposes of this thread sir :)

I'll take a peek in the options you mentioned...

Yeah,

I think I got this sorted thanks dodge.

I'm using the optical out on the PS3 direct to my headset mixamp to get sound, OBS is picking it up direct from the capture card so all looks pretty good thus far.

It will be absolutely awesome having direct capture available with the AverMedia - no more Xsplit or HDPVR2!

Good days ahead.

Out of interest - how easy would it be to get TeamSpeak also outputting to OBS, or is that going to involve using VAC?

Edit: got that working as well. This card was worth every single penny. Along with OBS my stream just got the upgrade I feel my viewers deserve. Thanks very much everyone.
