Question / Help Avermedia Live Gamer HD vs Live Gamer HD Lite?

So I'm trying to see the actual differences from these two models, but all the specs look the same on the spec sheets on avermedia's gamerzone site. I'm thinking the only difference is no hotbutton and no fancy circuit board cover... is that right? anyone know?

also i thought @dodgepong said that it can auto downscale 1080p60 to 720p60 on card, but i can't find that feature anywhere... can anyone confirm?

One more thing... since this is a PCI-e card can you play off the obs preview window? or is there substantial lag?

As far as I know they're the same hardware, the Live Gamer HD Lite just comes with less stuff like the gimmicky red record button thing. The card can accept 1080p60 input and then output it in OBS as 1080p30 or downscale it to a lower resolution. Once you get to 1280x720 and below it will output at 60 FPS if you so desire.

Sapiens is correct. As for the lag, there is perhaps 50-100ms of latency, so if you are tolerant of that, you should be fine. I don't recommend it for games that require fast reaction time, like fighting games or twitch shooters.

@Sapiens @dodgepong hmm ok... so i dont have to set my console to 720p settings for it to actually record true 60fps... i can play in 1080p 60 on the console and obs can downscale it to 720p 60 with no problems right? The reason i ask this is because i have a card that can passthrough 1080p60 but its highest recording is 1080p30 so whenever my consoles are set on 1080p the maximum frames obs or my capture software can see is 30 unless i change my console to 720p.

this card is about 1/2 the price of the micomsoft, do you know the ms of latency on the micomsoft compared to this avermedia?

The latency on the Micomsoft will be more or less the same. The latency in both of these cases are both due to having to go through Directshow to get the video.

And yes, the Live Gamer HD can take 1080p60 input and record in 720p60 using the on-board downscaling, I guarantee it.

thanks @dodgepong i'm going to save some money and get the avermedia then... micomsoft looks great... just so much more expensive... im using the subscriber money we are getting in, but to spend 300 for another card... seems a bit much when the avermedia can do pretty much what twitch will take at maximum quality.

btw do you know how much latency the extremecapu3 has compared to the live gamer HD?
