When I click preview stream after setting up all of my settings, I just get a black screen. I'm not sure what to do. I'm very new to this.

PS4 has an encyrpted signal known as HDCP. It's a digital rights management signal implemented by sony to prevent the capturing of the PS4.

Don't use the HDMI cable. The U3 comes with a 2nd component use that one with ps4.
