Question / Help Aspect ratio/Resolution problem: Help, I'm Ignorant!

Hi guys! New here.

I've just started fiddling around with OBS, and it's been working well for me so far. It doesn't cause my CPU usage to spike to all holy hell like procaster did. However, there is a small problem. My desktop looks like this, but when I stream, it looks like this!

I've been messing around with it for a while, changing the resolution wherever I can, checking and unchecking random things in OBS to see what they'd do. After a while, I started sifting through these forums to see whether or not I could find anybody with a similar problem. So eventually, I thought I'd just ask; why is it squeezing my monitor capture into a little box, and how can I get my stream to show it in proper, beautiful 16:9?

I'm not exactly sure whether or not I'm supposed to post any additional information. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Set your base resolution to your actual resolution, the output resolution will be what you stream at, and is determined by your downscale... 1.5 downscale would be typical, if your base resolution is 1080p.

Base resolution is set to my monitor's resolution, and I tried all the downscaling options available... but sadly, the screen is still squished into that little box in the actual stream window.
