Question / Help AMD Phenome II and GeForce GT520 - would video upgrade help?

I have 5mbps upload, and am able to sustain a decent stream to YouTube Live at 720p, but was wondering if I could help this have fewer freezes and stutters by upgrading the video card?

I also wonder what card model upgrades would be worthwhile and not be over-spending for nominal improvements!

This is an HP quad-core machine with 12 GB of RAM. I mostly use it as a dedicated encoder/switcher to YouTube Live Events, only running Voicemeeter Pro "Banana" alongside OBS. I capture a second machine's content and program output using the Startech PEXHDCAP capture card. Only webcams and a Focusrite 2i2 audio interface are plugged into the USB inputs.

I would upgrade your CPU first but to reduce stutters, you could lower the webcam and capture card resolution to 720p which is what you are downscaling to anyway

Yes, those are two good ideas. The webcam I did, but was bringing the capture in at 1080p - why not do that first? - exactly!

I need a nice i7 so I can push out 1080p someday, but haven't got the thousand bucks to build a proper box right now.

Thanks for the reply! I take it you think upgrading the video card will have little or no effect, at least not provide much improvement.

CPU will directly help stream, GPU will help games generally speaking.
 
Ah - well, I'm running all software on the second machine, so I think you just saved me from wasting some money!

NP, I will say OBS uses the GPUs ram a little when using game capture...as for the current builds of OBS, it uses DX10 interoperability do to this. one of the Devs can explain this better, but that all being said, upgrading CPU will give you most of the benefits
