Question / Help Am I out of place here?

I hate to ask this but given the tone of responses I did receive to questions I am under the impression that someone who does not wish to stream their live gaming is not very welcome here. IF I am wrong all apologies, but I am getting that vibe.

It may more be that you're just in the stark minority. The software's primary function is livestreaming... people who just want to use it for local recording are few and far between. Not to say that they're unwelcome, but most people will assume that you're trying to livestream (unless very bluntly and clearly labelled otherwise in the thread title and post body) in their responses, which tends to use radically different settings than local recording can.

So yeah, you might get some face-palm responses from people who miss the 'local recording only' disclaimer, if you say that you're using a 30mbps bitrate. Which is WAY too high for livestreaming to most of the popular sites out there, but works fine on local, without the bandwidth (or remote ingest) bottleneck(s).

You also may not get many responses to local-only questions, as local-recording isn't what most do (aside from mirrored archival copies of their livestreams). But that isn't hostility, it's just that many won't know, as it's something they don't really deal with.

what is this i don't even

@Pedge Jameson I see no negative responses to you in your very short post history, did you for some reason create a second forum account? Asking about streaming content that isn't gaming related isn't a problem at all, however if your goal is to stream copyrighted or otherwise protected content then no, you most likely will not receive much assistance. That doesn't have anything to do with it being unrelated to gaming, it has to do with it being illegal. Big difference.

@FerretBomb that is quite a dramatic description for people who use OBS for making local recordings! Amusingly the OP was still asking about live streaming. :P

I was asking about live streaming, and no I did feel as if no one was very responsive. But that's probably me.

I not planning on streaming a bunch of music, I just don't like YouTube's robotic ways of shutting everything down. Game reviewers who use YouTube exclusively such as Total Biscuit and Angry Joe will tell you it's ridiculous what they have to do to fix their videos when flagged. Once you are flagged you can't stream live again until they have forgiven you.

What I want is a live blog of just ranting about random stuff with my good friends on teamspeak. It hard to find one as easy as twitch so right now I'm on Younow using Manycam, yeah I know don't laugh too hard. :D

Only reason I'm using Manycam is that it can be chosen in the Younow as a "VIRTUAL CAM: of sorts and I can add watermarks and scrolling text etc. Open Broadcast6er can't be chosen as a virtual cam I take it. And ty both for your responses.

You commented as to the tone of the responses, not the number of them, which is why I was asking. Since Justin.tv is gone now, Ustream would probably be worth trying and was recommended in one of your previous threads. There are also other services listed under Settings > Broadcast Settings that may allow for non-gaming content.
