cloning reduces my sli performance arguably by 20%. i'm looking for alternatives when using 2 pc's for streaming. appreciate the help - thank you.

Use a capture card with a passthrough, placed between your gaming PC and monitor.
Or get an HDMI splitter, in the same place and run the other out to the cap card.

using passthrough seems to be working. could have sworn i'd tried that before with no luck. anywho, its working and thank you for the help :)

But not your background? That's... very odd. Sounds like a system problem. Check your monitor settings, see if it's being detected as a non-primary/additional display erroneously or something. A cap card passthrough isn't going to just strip off the icons/taskbar. Might also try a clean uninstall of your video card drivers and reinstall, in case something went wonky there.

Checking the cap card manufacturer's forums, or emailing their Support department would be a good idea too. If it's happening to you, it likely has happened to others, and they will probably have a workaround if it's related to their hardware (since OBS definitely isn't causing this one).

thanks for the reply. which monitor should be considered focus/primary? monitor 2 that is rendering the game, or monitor 1 that needs the content for streaming?
