I've managed to get my games streaming while in monitor and game capture mode but when I alt tab out of them or have them running in the back ground the screen and audio loop or it freezes and goes black. I've tried running it in both full screen and windowed mode with aero disable. Ideas?

Aero should be enabled, as it speeds up Window Captures dramatically.
If you're using Win7, don't use Monitor Capture; it's terribad and slow. Use a Game Capture of the DWM process instead.

Fullscreen games stop being rendered at the OS level when you alt-tab out. This isn't something OBS can fix. Run in Fullscreen Windowed mode instead, and use a Window Capture (with Aero on, again).
