After update, OBS only detects secondary monitor (twice)...but reads as primary?

I can do that. Now the question is: how do I go about that? OBS has historically been one of the most reliable programs I've used and I've never backed up installers for individual versions.

Never mind, I just realized OBS themselves makes installation media for old versions available from the Downloads page. I'll give it a go.

Same issue had to revert to last version of 28 to get things working properly as none of the 29 series works with my multimonitor setup

I'm having the same issue. I put off updating to 29 for so long. Now only one of my 3 monitors shows up. Not sure what to do. Going back to 28 to see if that fixes it. --- OK, yep that fixed it.

I found this a few weeks ago...

Same Issue, Fixed once i removed the Cable from my Drawing tablet that is only in use when doing design work. Since it is disabled on "display settings" but still plugged in, it was showing my 3 out of 4 displays on OBS but unable to change them from my "primary monitor" , once i plugged out the 4th Display that is not powered on and in use. It works as normal.
Its worth noting this was not a problem in prior versions of OBS and is to due with an update / change in how its coded.
So once again the fix is to unplug the cable physically so there is no data connection to unused monitors, dont just remove them via Software as you may of previously done. Its a pain but it fixes the issue.
Control-V
REmove the display not just disable it

I woke up today after using obs last night without any prob with this exact problem. The only thing I can think of that might have changed is I installed this astropad app to use my ipad as an extra screen (i also have multiple montiors lotsa screens all together).

In any case not sure if it was somehow that running in the background or the program needed an update but I changed to the beta /preview version and updated and restarted the computer at the same time. Im guessing it was update or closing out that ipad app thing that fixed.

the astro pad thing wasn't showing up as an extra monitor in display settings in either nvidia app or windows display settings yet i suspect if it wasn't the update it was doing some dirt somehow somewhere

Here is what I did to fix it. Open up your GPU app. nVidia control panel or whatever AMD/INTEL has. Turn off all monitors except for the monitor you want as primary. Fire up OBS. Delete your display capture and add a new one. Set it to automatic and it should already be on your primary monitor since it's the only one you have on. While OBS is still up, turn on your other monitors within your apps and apply the settings. Close the app. OBS should still be displaying your primary monitor as the capture. Close OBS and restart it. The settings should stick for you.
