Question / Help About Downscale Resolution

I read this in another thread:

"You can change how much you want to downscale in Settings > Video > Output (Scaled) Resolution. You can keep your Base (Canvas) Resolution the same, so that your layout doesn't change, and then downscale the resolution to whatever gives you good performance."

Do I get this right? If I record a 1440p video and downscale it to 1080p, with the base resolution of 1440p and I upload this to youtube, it will still have the native 1440p resolution ?

Thanks in advance for clarifying this for me :)

Nope. The output resolution is final for encoding no matter at what resolution it was rendered (base, or in other words - canvas).

OBS Studio Help Guide: https://obsproject.com/forum/resour...ware-studio-multiplatform-help-guide-pdf.365/ see pictures at Application Settings>Video section for more detail description.

Thanks for the reply. Then I don´t really understand in which cases I would want to have different base resolution settings and output settings.

I have a 1080p and a 1440p profile, where have set the base and ouput settings set to the same resolution. This brings up another question:

Is it more effective when I play games with a 1440p resolution. that I want to output with 1080p when I set the base resolution to 1440p and the output to 1080p or the way do it, where I have a profile where I just set the base and output to the same resolution of 1080p, even when I play it on 1440p?

Ok, but...sorry for spamming :)...Has it any positive impact when I set the base resolution to the resolution that I play (1440p) and set the output to the lower resolution (1080p) via downscaling VERSUS the constellation I use at the moment, where I just set the base and output / downscaling resolution to the desired resolution of 1080p, even if I play the game on 1440p ?

Your 'Game Capture' textures in this case should be downscaled to fit the base resolution. And while you do not use any custom filtering (source Scale Filtering) this 'Game Capture' is downscaled using default Bilinear filter. If you don't see the quality and performance difference - then use it as you wish.

Ok, thanks for the insight :)
