Question / Help AA = more or less "scene detail"?

i came on IRC to ask about this, and even though i got helpful answers, i left still feeling confused. i already noticed that texture resolution and choice of filtering, or lack of AF seem to help produce a clearer image overall.

i'm not worried about in-game "jaggies", just those blocky artifacts from too much detail at low bit rates.

in a stream with a 720p source, downscaled to 360p, 30 FPS and 2000-ish bit rate, i'm wondering if in-game antialiasing has an impact on the encoded image quality, and what i can do with anti-aliasing to improve the image at low bit rates, if anything.

my rig isn't that great for streaming. it has a core 2 duo 3 GHz CPU and Radeon HD 7770 GPU, with 4 gigs ram on Win7. i've been told i should give up, but i want to keep trying for a sweet spot.

if anyone can give me some definitive info on what AA does to downscaled streaming, i'd appreciate it. even a simple "do/don't use AA" would be great. thanks!
