Question / Help 900p bitrate settings?

Hello I need a few tips on getting my OBS settings right. I currently use a 1600x900 screen and all of the bitrate guides I have seen are for 1080p or 720p, not 900p. I can downscale it by 1.5 to 1066x600 but there is no '720p option'. I know I could resize it manually to 720p, but I don't want any quality loss. Anyways, what bit-rate should I use for my 900p stream? I have looked at this document for help but it doesn't give values for 900p: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... 0NWc#gid=0

Game: Starcraft 2
Native Resolution: 1600x900
Stream Resolution: 1600x900
Bit-rate: ???

Computer Specs:
CPU: i7-3770
GPU Gtx480
OS: windows 7 (64bit)
Ram: 4gb
Speedtest: 5.45Mbps up // 4.53 Mbps down

I am currently using the following settings, but they may not be ideal:
Quality balance: 10
Max Bitrate (kb/s): 3000
Buffer Size (kbit): 3000

Thanks for your help!

the bitrate and all of those settings are fine for 900p@30fps.. if you move the screen a lot though i suggest you put the quality at 8 and the buffer size at 4712

Lowering quality balance is fine, but there is no reason to make the buffer higher than the bitrate, especially such a random number like 4712

you have a nice way asking for knowledge. good luck with that

Then I'll bite. Why would you have the stream viewers buffer over 1.5 times the size of the actual streaming bitrate?

Alright I'll move the quality to 8. As for the bitrate/buffer size I still don't know if those are good settings for a 1600x900 setup.

Yeah the quality balance is fine at 8 (seeing that you will stream SC2, you can try 9 or 10 if you like) with a bitrate of 3000/3000, you can also try 3500/3500 and it should work fine without a hitch on your upload. If you want to squeeze more performance out of your stream I suggest you to downscale the resolution to 1280x720 if you can and improve the quality even more. I stream myself at 1280x720 downscaled from 1920x1080 and it looks great, just saying.
