Hey Guys -
I'm building a box for OBS - to stream a sporting event, I won't be playing games on the PC, just streaming cameras via OBS to a hosted red5/wowza/etc server or maybe some paid CDN.
I'm on a budget, so I'm decided whether to buy the 4770k and use the integrated graphics or go for the cheaper fx-8350 (which doesn't have integrated graphics). Keep in mind I'm not gaming, so i don't really care about the GPU performance. My primary concern is being able to take in as many camera inputs as possible to mix into a broadcast. I'll be using the CLR browser plugin for scoreboard. When OBS supports it, i'd like to have the horsepower for instant replay, and I'd like to record. For either system build I'd have a decent SSD for OS and a 3TB 7200 RPM disk for storage.
What I have:
4-port USB PCI-E card with 4 seperate USB 2.0 controllers: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815124078
(4) Logitech c920 USB cameras
In the future when I can afford better cameras, I'd want to put some HDMI or SDI capture cards in the system to replace or augment the USB setup
AMD Option:
The fx-8350 @ $179 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...hBargains-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA&Item=N82E16819113284 is by far the best price/performance CPU I can get - http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+FX-8350+Eight-Core&id=1780 ... but it means I'd have to get a video card with it, which would be ~ $80-120, which basically puts me into the price range of the 4770k w/ IGP. I'd get a decent motherboard ($120-160) with 4 PCIE slots.
INTEL Option:
4770k @ $339 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116901 .
Some things I notice is that the haswell 1150 mobo's have a lot more USB 3.0 ports as compared to the AM3+ above, but I don't see any reason to have so many USB ports on the system. In general, the 1150 mobo's seem to be a bit more pricey.
Obviously I think I have more headroom for upgradability w/ the intel system, but no intention to purchase kickass graphics card(s) for gaming. Is there some compelling reason why I need the intel system w/ pcie 3.0 as opposed to the pcie 2.0 of the AM3+ setup? Anything else I'm overlooking?
With either setup I'd be using 2 or 3 monitors, which I'd get from the 4770k's IGP or a video card like the GTX 650 to go along with the AMD setup.
Thanks for any suggestions!
