I am able to block out my entire green-screen but only 1 half at a time. If I click on the right edge I can get it all to go away except some bits on the left. If i click on the left edge I can get it to all go away except some bits on the right.

What this means is that if I could use a STANDALONE CHROMAKEY FILTER of some sort, it would actually work properly. (and by properly I mean it will remove the only thing even remotely green from the scene, like any 2 year old human could do).

I know I could fix this by buying one of those $30-$50 lighting kits, but it is obviously possible with free software as well.

OBS' chroma key filter was developed using a very poorly lit green screen as a reference, so it's already pretty robust (more so than offerings from XSplit and Wirecast, for instance). If the chroma key filter cannot pick up your entire green screen, that suggests to me you must have even worse lighting than the reference we used. I really can't suggest anything else than just improving your lighting like you already mentioned.

I think there is a way to double pass the cam thru the filter. There just needs to be a way to set it to another output... getting it from a separate stream of yourself on another channel should work but I probably won't try and double dip unless you can suggest a localhost type setup.

Can you give a few screenshots of your green screen setup? Like one where you have chroma key disabled showing what the green screen looks like, and two screenshots demonstrating the problem with only one half at a time keying out.

I moved my chair away from it so its not really doing the half-and-half thing I described any more. But I could still benefit from the a 2nd pass through the filter. Can you think of a way to do that without broadcasting the first pass to the internet first? Maybe some way to "broadcast" it at the localhost level or on my internal network?

I think what muf was trying to say is "could you make me an example without the chroma key applied so we can do some testing?"

The lighting isn't that extreme until near sunrise. I'll have to take it another day. You can obviously see what I was talking about. I just want to know an easy way to set up 2 passes. I already know I could do it by broadcasting to the internet twice but I want it to be cleaner than that like a "localhost" or intranet stream.

Have you tried increasing the similarity option? I suggested it in the first post but you didn't reply to it. Maybe you can find somewhat a happy medium.

How about this... is it possible to add a custom server to which to broadcast? (i.e. not own3d, twitch, ustream, etc.)

Sorry I guess what I meant is, is there a guide on how to make a custom server? Or could I set the "server" to be 127.0.0.1 (localhost) I have a website I could set up for it, but would be a lot easier to use localhost.

Localhost would only work if you'd setup your own server on it, such as Red5. There was a thread somewhere on the forums mentioning some more.

Are you doing what I think you're doing? Just to get a second chroma key option?

Until there is option for multiple passes, I don't see another choice. I'm all ears, Jim. It would also be fun to add other colors. For example I drink from a red cup. I could make it see thru just for funsies.
