Question / Help 2699v3 OBS Settings/custom commands

So I randomly decided to pick up an E5-2699v3 to replace the 5960X in my stream PC. I installed it today and was wondering what you guys might suggest I try in order to maximize performance. From research I've done the past few days, it appears that having OBS/x264 open too many threads at once is detrimental. Some have even suggested I take the output resolution (1080p) and divide by 40 (which gives me 27) and set that as my thread limit using threads=27.

Apparently the reason for dividing by 40 is due to the macroblock being 16px tall and the other 24 being the default "look ahead" sizing or something. I've learned I can override this using the --mvrange-thread command. However, I don't exactly understand the implications of changing the 24 pixel size. Any ideas?

Also, if anyone else has any suggestions/experiments for me to try, let me know!

Thanks

Use the most demanding preset the CPU is able to handle and don't worry about manually adjusting threading or your other custom params at all.
