This is just an edit of an edit of the plugin by upgradeQ and Gima. Originally edited by cwypt to add the feature of changing the audio file's volume, now made to work on Linux by me. - I am using Kubuntu 25.04, but the script should work on almost any other system regardless of OBS install method, using SOX or fallback pipewire-pulse (no volume control).
Choose a .wav file that you want for the notification sound, and make sure to cut it to just the short notification sound. I use the same one cwypt suggests: https://github.com/sourcesounds/hl2/blob/master/sound/npc/scanner/scanner_photo1.wav
Install:
1. While in OBS, go to Tools --> Scripts and add the Lua script provided.
2. Use the file picker to select your .wav notification sound and use the volume slider to select your preferred volume - for the suggested scanner_photo1.wav file, I've found 0.10 volume is a good setting for me.
The original script is found here (GitHub).
