Zooming instead of Cropping

Hi

today i saw a video explaining that its possible to use ALT key to crop e.g a window capture, i used to do it manually with a filter but it seemed way easier/faster with the

hotkey.

when i tried it, it worked when dragging the window from left to right and right to left but for the top to bottom and opposite it just zooms in.

what cant be right imo

couldnt find a fitting thread for this so here we go. i ll try to upload an example (may i ask what themax size? 1.06 MB wont upload)

thanks in advance.

crop/re-framing = zooming in (ie - showing less of video frame than is available)
A video source will start with a red border (when not locked)
The ALT key-mouse drag method will crop from the edges (I've never tried from a corner) and then you'll get a green edge on the side that is cropped. You can 'crop' different amounts from the 4 sides of the frame as desired

when i use the filter called crop/pad it doesnt zoom in, just cuts away the part i dont want to show.
Im not really an IT guy but again, using the ALT hotkey method works from left to right and opposiste, it cuts away the part i dont want, but from top to bottom and opposite it zooms in and that cant be how it is supposse to be...
thanks for the reply, but crop/pad doesnt = zooming in....

Sorry, you are right
crop doesn't equal zoom *if* you don't enlarge the view
For me side (left / right) cropping/re-framing and top/bottom all behave exactly the same, then I resize (which does zoom)

so is this going to be fixed in the future, or do i still need to do it manually, becus than it doesnt zoom.

Dont really see the meaning of zooming in when its supose to crop/cut.

I get it.. stuff happens... no worries
Glad it is working now.
There is another thread in the Ideas/Suggestion forum to make the little red squares around the video source be larger, or more sensitive. There are plenty of times when I've tried to ALT-click the middle Red box along an edge, and miss... repeatedly... and shouldn't have [ie the video moves inside the frame rather than cropping]. the target point [little red box in middle of edge] is unnecessarily small (UI design issue). Hopefully in a later OBS release that red box will be larger
