Hi OBS team and community,
I'm on CachyOS Linux, KDE Plasma 6.7.4, Wayland session.
Issue:
Zoominator plugin (and similar zoom-to-mouse tools) cannot track the global cursor position on Wayland. The zoom works but there's no mouse following. This is because Wayland blocks global cursor queries for security.
Why this matters:
- KDE Plasma 6.8 (Oct 2026) is dropping native X11 entirely
- Fedora, Ubuntu, and other distros are already Wayland-default
- Content creators are losing zoom-to-mouse functionality
Request:
Please add or extend xdg-desktop-portal support in OBS to allow trusted plugins to query cursor position under Wayland, similar to how screen capture portals work.
This would help:
Zoom-to-mouse plugins (Zoominator, obs-zoom-to-mouse)
Screen magnifiers
Accessibility tools
