Question / Help Youtube via ssh tunnel?

I'm wondering if anyone has broadcast to youtube via an ssh tunnel? I haven't been able to make youtube see my stream yet. I can't find any sort of proxy settings in OBS (which I can certainly understand), so I've been forwarding port 1935 to youtube through the port (using SecureCRT, though I've also been playing with putty), trying various URL combinations.

My networking understanding is pretty slim, unfortunately. I also played around with setting up OpenVPN, but hadn't made things work yet when the SSH tunnel idea was suggested to me.

I realize this is not a particularly detailed post, but I'm awfully tired :-)

Any ideas very much welcome.

The reason for using tunnel is to make it harder for my cell provider to decide that I'm tethering, as we're planning to broadcast a sporting event via our mobile connection and will probably exceed the monthly tethering bandwidth limit (though not the mobile bandwidth limit). It's been suggested to me that a VPN will help hide things.
