Hello,

I am a new streamer that just got into it, and I am looking for the best settings available for the follow setup Xbox One + ElGato HD60 + OBS Settings. More importantly, I would also like to get rid of the feedbck and delay for the audio in my stream on Twitch. So let's get to business.

My streaming equipment is as follows: (I have also included the latest log from a stream about 1 hour ago)

PC

ASUS ROG G751JT-CH71 17.3-Inch Laptop
Processor2.5 GHz Intel Core i7
RAM16 GB DDR3
Hard Drive1 TB
Graphics CoprocessorNvidia GTX970M 3GB GDDR5

ElGato HD60 with the latest firmware as of February 2015
Xbox One set to 1080p and I use the Kinetc
Logitech C615 1080p Webcam (I want to use this mic for the stream for now)

I have attached my log, please help me! I'm done watching You tube videos. I need technical expertise! Especially with the audio portion.

Thank you,
tOOtie

Lets fix some other stuff first then we'll get to your mic/audio issues. sync issues are kind of known right now and we can work on them, but a driver fix is coming soon.

Code:
Scene buffering time set to 800

profile: high

Interface: Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 (802.11, 130 mbps)
Set scene buffering to 1000

set profile to main

dont stream from wireless, you'll get stalled connection from time to time and that just bad. use wired whenever possible.

First question:
are you hearing an near instant echo? is the elgato software capturing your mic because obs seems to be as well. could that be the source of your echo? disable one of each of them and preferably the elgato mic input.

set mic offset back to 0 for a test

about the audio delay, is everything delayed?
game sound? is audio before or after the game? by how much is it delayed?
mic? is audio before or after the webcam? by how much is it delayed?

I will set these settings above today when I arrive at home to do a test and give feedback on what we are trying. For now I am in the office so testing this will be delayed for about 8 hours from now.

To answer your question though dping, the echo varies because I have tried to fix the delay myself through OBS syncing. I have about a 2 second delay from when I speak and when the audio hits the stream/game.

I have my webcam mic setup right next to my Kinect mic (For LtRoyalShrimp) this could be the cause of the feedback i'm thinking, mic gains and all still not sure on that one. Im thinking the echo is coming from something I have setup wrong because of my lack of knowledge on how the settings are supposed to be.

Xbox Kinect is used as my mic right now because of Xbox One's issue with Party chat in the stream. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it into the stream, without using this method of delivery. The Kinect plays through the HDMI along with my game audio through the ElGato. I have my Logitech webcam mic set as my Primary mic captured in OBS for the stream (which sits right next to me Kinetc mic.) Is this not the right configuration? Could the mic's being so close together be giving off a feedback? I'm not sure on those which is why I am here to see if anyone else has had this issue. Disabling the HDMI ElGato audio would be impossible as you wouldn't hear anything in the stream. Not unless there is another way.

Dping also asked:
1. About the audio delay, is everything delayed? My voice is delayed only, not the game audio.
2. Is audio before or after the game? After
3. By how much is it delayed? Right now the audio is delayed about 2-3 seconds
4. Mic? I use my Logitech C615 webcam for the mic
5. Is audio before or after the webcam? See question #2

I really appreciate the replies, and I look forward to solving this with the fourm.

Do you have a source link that I can read about this issue please, so that I may understand fully about the defect/issue?

One other thing, if I had a dedicated Mic just for my stream voice could that solve all this? Just thinking if I bought a dedicated mic this would probably be a lot eaiser. Or it could be just another thing to setup to have go wrong. Man I am so torn on this. I had dropped some money in getting this started and I want it to work damnit! Lol

1. My voice is delayed only, not the game audio. Ok, good, that will simplify things.
2. Is audio before or after the game? After If its after, you have your mic offset to 1500ms so set it to -1000ms (after you do the scene buffering thing...
3. Right now the audio is delayed about 2-3 seconds See above :)

You'll have to ask @LtRoyalShrimp about maybe checking out beta drivers, just PM him and ask, he would def know more about any sync issue they are working on than I.

@dping I will try these settings in a few hours and post from home on what I find.

My other question is this though: If I had a dedicated Mic (Snowball etc ...) just for my stream voice, could that solve all this?

you might still get double talk with kinect because when you talk in that chat, its recording that audio as well? I might be wrong...nvm, it shouldn't record your own voice. the almighty LTcould probably help you with this more. as I neither have a capture card, an xbox or anything, I just understand pretty well how they work.

Well I have set the settings up like as intended above in the other posts but here is a recap

In OBS:
Advanced > Scene buffering = 1000
Advanced > Profile = Main
Wired Internet Connection

I also downloaded and installed an older version of the software from ElGato and I am happy to state the lag is gone "for now" from what I'm gathering in other posts the issue arises again when the stream is live for a little while but we will see. Stay tuned for more tests

Here is the software I have installed
ElGato Game Capture v 2.0.1

OBS keeps changing my settings to "Optimize" them, so here are my optimized settings that OBS recommends:

OBS Settings:
Encoding > Max Bitrate = 1250
Video > Base Resolution = 1920 x 1080
Video > Resolution Downscale = 1280 x 720
Video > FPS = 30
Audio > Desktop Audio Device = Default
Audio > Mic Sync Offset = 0
Advanced > Scene buffering = 1000
Advanced > Profile = Main
Advanced > Keyframe Interval = 2

ElGato HD60 Settings:
Capture > Input Device = Xbox One
Capture > HDMI Color Range = Standard
Capture > Profile = HD 1080 Check also "Allow 60 fps"
Capture > Quality is set to the 4th bar from the left
Audio > Analog Audio Gain = 0
Advanced > Slider is set all the way to the left.

I capture my voice from the Webcam mic to the stream, but if I want to get the party in the stream I use the kinect sensor, and disable the Webcam mic because the audio is already going through HDMI. This is what was causing the "echo".

I really hope this helps someone!
