I use my NAS running FreeNAS as my Plex Media Server. It'd be fun to be able to use it to stream as well. Although it doesn't have a GPU so maybe it wouldn't be worth it.
Would this ever be possible? Streaming from a 24/7 NAS?

Stream...in what sense? Run OBS and/or encode video? No, I don't think that would work very well if at all. I guess maybe you could run nginx on it if you wanted to stream to multiple providers, but you could just do that on the PC you're streaming from with virtually no additional overhead.
