Question / Help would it work?

I'm looking to upgrade my computer within the next month to this -
http://pcpartpicker.com/user/icenine63/saved/2WRk

From this -
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 645 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.1GHz
Mobo: Acer M3410
8GB RAM
EVGA Geforce GTX 550ti 2GB

My question is given my current internet speed (15 down 1.5-2 up) Would I be able to stream a good quality 720p? I know 1080p is out of the question with my hideous upload speed.

Also is the 8350 worth the extra money over the 8320? Or should I just get the 8320 and OC it to 4?

Measure your internet with testmy.net.

The 8320 is the same as the 8350 except a slower clockspeed, right? If that's correct then the 8320 is fine, its the eight cores that will really help you for streaming.

If you really have 2Mb up, then 720p should be fine, but I'd say it would depend on the game... a fast motion game might not be "good quality" while a low motion game would be fine. Also remember you have to leave some bandwidth for game traffic to not lag yourself out, and testmy.net may say you don't really have all the 2Mb you think you have.

Are you keeping your old computer? If yes, you could use this guide to dedicate it to streaming for you: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=6757 .

Thanks for the reply, I will be using certain parts (RAM, HD, optical etc.) from my current in my new computer. My current struggles at 720p so I think its best I just stick with the single computer stream style.

I have been told the 8320 is just the underclocked 50, I was just looking for someone who had first hand experience with it.

As far as all of the testmy tests, I average between 1.6 and 2 upload. I expect drops even if i only used 500kbs, for some reason my internet drops randomly anyway. ISP has replaced the cable from the pole to my house 2-3 times and it hasn't helped, they have ran tests on the modem and it came back clear.

Anyone with first hand knowledge of streaming with the 8320/8350? Also could I lower the preset to help pick up slack of my upload speed?

The FX-8000 CPUs are pretty solid for encoding actually. The shine with multithreaded apps. As far as adjusting preset, it just comes down to experimenting. If the additional system load keeps performance impact within your personal standards, then it's fine. Make sure your CPU cooling is functioning properly and keep an eye on your temps as you start maxing out your processor more.

Thanks for the reply, I plan on either going with a CM 212 evo or Corsair H60 for cooling, most likely the h60 just for the cleaner less bulky look imo.

So in the end the difference between the two is negligible until it comes to price?

Yeah pretty much. And with either of those coolers you'll be able to overclock well past stock 8350 performance.

I have the 212 myself. My 2600k is overclocked from 3.4Ghz to 4.6Ghz and I barely hit 60C while streaming 720p48fps Skyrim on Fast preset (which is keeping my CPU usage in high 80%/low 90%) just to give you an idea how well it performs. Just make sure you apply the thermal paste properly, and I really recommend having a mounting bracket that lets you actually screw the heatsink into it.
