Hi guys,

I'm thinking about switching from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and I just want to know your opinion towards Windows 8 on gaming and streaming.

Thanks!

Your mileage may vary, but I saw a performance increase for pretty much everything after updating to Windows 8, and Windows 8 also gets you the super fast monitor capture, if you're into that kind of thing.

Thats my opinion: i really really like it BUT only after installing classic shell and disabling the start screen crap. After that it just looks and feels like a updated windows 7. So what i tell most people is -> i dont recommend upgrading to 8 i you have windows 7 and DONT NEED some of the new features. For me it was, like paibox mentioned, the super fast monitor capture which rivals gamecapture performance. Since i never play anything in fullscreen anyway it was perfect for me. The new taskmanager is pretty damn good too. It boots faster (in my experience) but overall it feels the same after modifying it a bit. Also you dont have to worry about aero sucking up your performance, at the core it still is aero (and is still called aero in the theme files etc) but works alot better than on 7.

Windows 8 has a superior monitor capture method. If you use software capture -> monitor capture in windows 8, you will get smooth fully uncompressed 60fps monitor capture. It's amazing. Sadly, windows 8 has a horrible user interface.
