Question / Help Windows 8 Monitor Capture Issue

Hi, I've decided to give OBS a try to stream to a few friends of mine.

When I try to use the Monitor Capture mode, I get really bad flickering when broadcasting. What seems to happen is that every few seconds, my computer will attempt to disable Aero or something (I see the borders of my windows briefly turn to what a Windows 7 default setup might look like with Aero disabled - and then immediately turn back) and then immediately reverts. The whole screen turns black during this time, which only lasts about a second, but is disruptive enough to make the stream extremely annoying to watch. Obviously Aero can't actually be disabled in Windows 8 else I'd just do so and probably not have an issue.

Any ideas on what to do here? I've heard Monitor Capture is supposed to actually be much better on Windows 8 compared to Windows 7, so I'm surprised that this is such a big issue for me. I'm worried I may be missing something obvious.

Nope. And upon further testing, I've discovered this will happen whenever I stream anything with monitor capture or even attempt to preview my stream while monitor capture is selected. I will get the flicker effect across all my windows.

If it helps, I'm on Windows 8 64 bit ASUS laptop
Processor is Intel i7 2.4 ghz quadcore
the laptop has two graphics cards built in - one is just an Intel HD Graphics 4000, the other is NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M

My drivers are all up to date, and I've been keeping up with Windows updates, versions of DirectX, etc...
