Question / Help Windows 8 monitor capture insane performance?

Hey there

SO yea, I upgraded to windows 8 a while ago, but never tried monitor capture as everyone says it sucks. Well, I wanted to play league, so I tried monitor capture, and it is super smooth. I stream at 1080p at 48FPS at 3500 bit rate from one computer.

So, did windows 8 change something or am I just...idk imagining things?

PC specs:
2600k OC'ed to 4.0Ghz
Reference AMD 7970
120GB Intel SSD
1TB Seagate HDD
Intel Z68BC Mobo
8GB Ram

Thoughts?

Under Windows 8, Microsoft actually allows Aero monitor capture to be accessed by programs, so it doesn't suck.
Under Win7 it's limited to window captures only, and monitor capture is ridiculously slow and bad.

The tradeoff with the former is that you're stuck using Windows 8. (I'm biased though, as I have to deal with fixing that POS at my day job. I'm sure the end-user experience is much less excruciatingly monitor-chuckingly horrendous.)

"Everyone says it sucks" - usually that is in the context of WIndows 7. I try to always specify that Monitor capture sucks under WIndows 7 and Vista when I help people.

I actually mention the fact that windows 8 monitor capture is great in the program help file, and have mentioned it on quite a few occasions -- it's almost as fast as game/window capture on windows 8. It's great.
