Question / Help Windows 10 XBOX App High Encoding Issue

I am trying to record gameplay of my monitor from the Windows 10 XBOX app. Whenever I'm capturing OBS or my monitor, I get no lag. However, whenever I try to record the XBOX app, the recording freezes and "Warning High Encoding" pops up. I am recording on a HP laptop with very low internet (1.1-1.5 upload). Can anybody help me with my settings or anything else to fix my issue?

Post an OBS log file from the troublesome setup. Make sure its a five minute or longer attempt.

With that low internet upload speed, you probably should stick to recording only or downscale to 480p or smaller.

That CPU is slower than an ancient Core2Duo, and even a lot of Celerons. I'm mildly surprised that it can handle Win10 at all, much less and still be able to decode the video from the Xbone.

You might try looking into the VCE branch. It can use the built-in GPU for encoding, and since you're just locally recording the poor compression can be compensated for with a few buckets of bitrate.

Would I be better off buying a capture card and recording gameplay like that and downgrading to Windows 8?

No. A capture card will not fix what is broken with your setup at present. You're asking a mouse to do a tractor pull. You need a better CPU. Again, give the VCE branch a shot. Long shot, but it might work for what you're trying to do?
