Question / Help Window Capture = Still Image/Black Screen, Game Capture = Crash

Hello,

I generally like to use OBS to record some of the more challenging stuff I do in different video games (mostly small indie games), but I have recently started having problems. Some games I can record just fine without issues, but then there are games that I can't record and there is always the same pattern: If I try to record with window capture, it only records either a still image or a black screen, and if I try record with game capture, the game will crash (both full screen and windowed).

I have tried using both original OBS and OBS Studio, and I have also tried using another laptop, but the problem persists. My friend has also told me that he has had no issues recording some of the games I have problems with.

I have tried finding a solution to the problem, but nothing has helped so far. Anyone know what the cause could be?

I can give more info if needed.

I'm having the same issue. I try to record GMOD with GameCapture and it is just a black screen. Then if i record with display capture, the end video result is not centered. It's like up in the top left corner

I think it's not exactly the same, you should be able to make the capture more centered by using the "edit scene" option, at least in the original OBS (I think in Studio you can just move it freely). I can't get any actual recording results at all.
